Most of us are guilty of wearing our t-shirts in the same unimaginative ways. So, here at The Stiff Collar, we thought we’d share some ideas with you on alternative ways to style your basic tee. So, without further ado, it’s time to unlock the hidden potential of our most underrated garment!

T-shirt with jeans and sneakers
This casual look can go in a number of directions. Go grungy by pairing a plain or striped t-shirt with stonewashed, ripped or loose-fitting jeans, and Reebok classics. Or, go sleek but casual with dark denims or tailored trousers, a v-neck or dark tee, suede or leather shoes, and sunglasses.

T-shirt with blazer jacket
Pair a solid white t-shirt with a suit jacket or blazer, and chinos or jeans. But be warned - overly formal black tuxedo style jackets are not suitable. Instead, opt for wool, tweed, or cotton, or lighter neutral shades, greys or blues.

T-shirt with shorts
In the same way that the t-shirt has evolved, so too have shorts. With a spectrum ranging from neon coloured beach shorts, to tailored linen shorts. Pair casual shorts with a polo t-shirt or graphic printed t-shirt, and for smarter shorts wear an unbuttoned linen shirt over your tee.

T-shirt under overshirt
Plaid shirts, lumberjack shirts, denim shirts, linen shirts - keep it oversized, keep it unbuttoned. Pair with a plain black or white t-shirt, black or blue jeans, and a canvas or leather backpack for an uber cool weekend look.

Layer up your t-shirt
Match a bomber jacket/sports jacket/ leather jacket - or even a cardigan - with any solid colour tee for when the temperature dips. The 'Shacket' - a hybrid mix of a jacket and a shirt has recently taken the fashion industry by storm - so keep your eyes open for that! Keep it stylish - whatever the weather!
